I have an S8, and tethering my laptop to my S8 via usb to share the wifi connection works perfectly fine while on airplane mode. I'm currently using it this way right now to post this comment! I enable airplane mode, then enable wifi, then plug in the usb cable, then enable usb tethering.

Feb 25, 2011 · No extra fees for tethering when rooted. I have the app called "Wireless Tether" I can connect my laptop to my phone using the phone as wifi but I cannot do it with the xoom. I was able to do it with the bluetooth option in the app but it seems a lot slower to me. Has anybody else been able to tether from a rooted phone?
